Why Foothills?

The foothills academy offers training for all players between the ages of U9-U18. Within the Academy we work from an age group specific curriculum that aims to improve all players both technically & tactically. Foothills is the only club in the City to have 5 Full time coaches who are UEFA B certified & a technical Director who is UEFA A license pending. Among the coaching staff the club also has a director of coaching who solely works with all coaches through the club & is able to certify coaches up to a level two standard, the first club in the city to do so.  The club also has its own GoalKeeper coach who works with all GKs from U9-U18. Foothills have a clear player pathway for every level of player to ensure every individual need is met.

Foothills Academy: Positional Specific training & Sports Science

Foothills Soccer club is the only club in the city that’s offers a positional specific training program.  We use this to focus on player individual needs to improve certain areas of their game.  We focus on smaller groups to enhance the time spent with the player so we can really get into the details of the players position & what is required. Once sessions are completed when then hold classroom sessions where we can use the time go through video analysis with the players. This has proven to be an excellent learning tool for our players within the academy.
Foothills are the only recognized club in the city to have its very own sports science department with a full time & two part time trainers. This enables us as a club to control the fitness & athletic development of all of our players.

Team travel & tournaments

At Foothills we aim to travel with our teams up to 3 times a year on either a tournament or a Pre season training tour. This does not include provincials or national events. This gives our players the opportunity to compete at a higher level of play as well as bond as a team.  Places we look to travel to are Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix, Vancouver, Toronto and Kelowna. We use these trips to help our players prepare for the start of the season, showcase themselves for college opportunity’s or to enter tournament play. The Seattle trip was designed by the club technical team to act as a pre season preparation & developmental purpose. We are the only club to control the amount of teams that travel to one event (Phoenix 8 teams), which also proves vital in our club bonding process.

Foothills: Player Pathway

Whether the player wants to become a professional player, earn him or herself a School scholarship or even just enjoy the beautiful game our club offers all aspects that support the player’s dreams. Foothills as a club has a high rate of players who graduate onto a good soccer scholarship at 18, or even join professional clubs across the world. Most recently we have huge success on the National & Professional level with Joey Cowlishaw, Sarah Kinzner, Sam Adekube, Mitch Piraux & young, Mya Jones all going onto National & professional teams. Our track record is proven to provide a soccer for life home for every player that graduates.

Foothills: LTPD (Long Term Player Development)

Foothills is the only club in the city to now have its very own U23 professional team that will play full time in the USL PDL league as of 2015.  The club played the Vancouver Whitecaps last season winning the game 2-1 in front of 2500 fans. This now gives our homegrown players the opportunity to aspire to playing in a professional environment. The club will be announcing shortly the same vision on the female side with the announcement of the professional women’s teams that will play in the W-league. Foothills is the only club in the city to have this for its players & this is down to the hard work of everyone involved in the Foothills FAMILY…
